How to Make Pipe Cleaner Flowers
Turn flexible fuzzy pipe cleaners into petals, leaves and a colourful handmade bouquet. This simple method is suitable for school projects, decorations and first-time flower makers.
Materials to keep ready
- • 8mm fuzzy pipe cleaners for petals
- • Green pipe cleaners for stems and leaves
- • Child-safe scissors, with adult supervision
- • Optional floral tape for a finished bouquet
Pipe cleaner flower instructions
- STEP 1
Choose the flower colours
Pick one or two colours for the petals and green for the stem and leaves. Pastel shades create soft bouquets, while bright shades suit festive arrangements.
- STEP 2
Shape the first petal
Fold a pipe cleaner into a narrow loop. Twist the two ends together at the base so the loop keeps its shape.
- STEP 3
Make and join more petals
Repeat the loop to form five or six petals. Hold the twisted bases together and wrap another short stem around them.
- STEP 4
Add the flower centre
Coil a contrasting pipe cleaner into a small spiral and secure it over the joined petal bases.
- STEP 5
Attach the stem and leaves
Twist a green pipe cleaner around the flower base. Add one or two smaller green loops to create leaves.
- STEP 6
Build a pipe cleaner bouquet
Make flowers in several colours, group the stems at different heights and wrap them together with a final green stem or floral tape.
